The sandwich chain has been diversifying from its traditional high street locations recently, with outlets opening in AppleGreen petrol stations, and its first within an Asda supermarket, last month.
Welcome Break’s Charnock Richard Services on the M6, and Woodall Services, just outside Sheffield, were the first to see Subways open as part of the Welcome Break partnership, with more planned for the future.
Neil Denny, development agent for the north west at Subway, said: “We have been working closely with Welcome Break over recent months and we are very excited to be opening the first two stores in the partnership.
“We hope to see many more Subway stores in Welcome Break motorway service stations in the coming months.”
Subway said partnerships with well-known brands such as Welcome Break and Euro Garages were key to the success of its development of non-traditional, off high-street locations.
