n Greencore has appointed Jonathan Hodgson as commercial director of its cakes and desserts division. The previous commercial director, Paul Rhodes was appointed as MD of Greencore Cakes & Desserts in 2006. Hodgson joins from Young's Seafoods where he was account group director managing a team looking after the major multiples.

n A new survey claims that 95% of older workers enjoy working with their younger colleagues.Commissioned by Jobcentre Plus, to mark the first anniversary of the Employment Equality (Age) Regulations 2006, the research found that out of 750 young workers that were questioned, 91% think their older colleagues bring experience, 63% understanding and 58% reliability.

n The latest exhibitors to sign up for the Baking Industry Exhibition include California Raisins, Food Tools Inc and CBES Food Systems. The exhibition takes place at Birmingham's NEC on April 6-9 2008, alongside Food & Drink Expo, the Convenience Retailing Show and Foodex Meatex.

n Northern Irish bakery Ormo is to support Help the Aged's Helping Unite Generations (HUG) Appeal.HUG aims to encourage greater interaction between generations by reaching out to lonely people and Ormo is supporting this by donating 3p on every sale of selected Ormo items. Ormo is also encouraging community groups and organisations to host a fundraising Ormo HUG tea party.

n The founder of Eurobuns, Asif Rangoonwala, scooped Retail, Food & Franchise Excellence at this year's Lloyds TSB Southern Jewel Awards, which celebrate Asian businesses in the UK.
