Stephen Greenfield is to leave Jackson's Bakery this month, having already handed over the role of MD to his successor James Watson. Greenfield had been MD for nine years, overseeing major investments in manufacturing and growing sales in the sandwich bread, foodservice and export sectors.
Sector skills council Improve's operations and marketing teams are being merged with the National Skills Academy for Food and Drink Manufacturing management team to create a single unit, responsible for training delivery, and communications. Director of skills solutions Justine Fosh said it would result in better access to advice and support on skills.
Roberts' charity move
Roberts Bakery presented a £6,000 cheque to the Children's Adventure Farm Trust, which provides holidays, respite care and activity days for terminally ill, disabled and disadvantaged children, and also organised an Easter biscuit hunt for the children.
The National Association of Master Bakers Conference is returning to the De Vere Hotel, Blackpool on May 7-10, supported by California Raisins. After the AGM, there will be talks from three craft bakers, Tom and Dick Lewis of Mhor Bakery and David Smart of Greenhalgh's, plus the installation of new president Ian Storey.
