Symington's and Seabrook have teamed up to co-create and launch Bread Crisps into Morrisons. Targeted at the UK crisp sharing market, worth £638m, the new crisps contain one-third of the fat content compared to traditional potato varieties. A typical 25g serving is between 101 and 107 calories.
Warburtons site fire
A Manchester-based Warburtons factory caught fire last month, taking almost four hours to extinguish. It started in the plant room in a machinery motor, which pushes flour into the production line. Two fire engines and an aerial appliance put out the flames, with all employees evacuated safely.
Auntie Anne's adds
Auntie Anne's has opened five new UK stores in the past two months. The international pretzel retailer now has outlets in Gateshead, Reading, Cardiff, Basingstoke and Guildford, taking its UK count to 18. The firm operates over 1,200 shops worldwide with a global turnover of $356m (£228m) in 2010.
Tesco's festive pizza
Tesco has launched its first-ever Festive Feast pizza, featuring turkey, sage and onion stuffing, sausage, smoked bacon and mozzarella cheese. It will form part of the supermarket chain's extensive pizza range, with 119 chilled and frozen varieties. Last year, 466 million pizzas were purchased from UK stores.
High street roles fall
High street jobs are disappearing at their fastest rate in two years, according to the Confederation of British Industry. The latest quarterly Distributive Trades Survey found job cuts by employers was at its highest, at around 40%, with only 13% of retailers increasing employee levels. Employers have seen sales volumes decline by 44% since last November.
