A group of bakers has raised more than £1,000 after they took to the saddle to cycle 26 miles from Manchester City to Manchester United stadium twice.

The money has been raised for the Make-A-Wish charity, ahead of Craft Bakers’ Week, which is also supporting the charity.

John Robertshaw of Bako NW, Julie Robertshaw of CSM, Mark Tomlinson CEO of Bako NW and Keith Houliston of Bakels took part in the Great Manchester Bike ride on 29 June.

The bakery squad averaged times of 16-18 miles per hour between them as they joined the 8,000 other competitors.

Commenting on the event, Houliston said: “It was a well-organised and well-attended event, which I would definitely take part in again. The atmosphere was great especially at the stadium.”

Craft Bakers’ Week 2014 will run from Monday 29 September to Sunday 5 October.
