The Buttermilk Confectionery Company has won a deal to supply 60,000 packets of fudge a year to the National Trust.

The fudge, made in Wadebridge, Cornwall, will be sold in nearly 200 shops across England, Wales and Northern Ireland, as well as being available to buy online.

David Goad, managing director of the company, said: “We’ve been supplying National Trust shops in Cornwall since 2003. We want to grow the Buttermilk brand nationally, so to have our products stocked further afield is a really positive step for us.”

The Cornish fudge business is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year and, earlier this summer, it acquired a site to build a new £500,000 factory, which will almost double its production space and output.

Tracey Shea, assistant buyer for the National Trust, said: “Fudge has always been a firm favourite with our customers and repeatedly appears at the top of our best-sellers.

“It’s great to now have the opportunity to stock Buttermilk’s fudge range in all of our shops, especially as profits from everyday sales like confectionery are put straight back into our conservation work.”

The National Trust will be stocking four different fudge flavours from The Buttermilk Confectionery Co, including clotted cream fudge and a box of fudge assortments.
