The new owner of the former Cooplands (Doncaster) site hopes to find a bakery tenant for it, to ensure continued use as a bakery.
The sale of the 127,000 sq ft former Cooplands “business park” includes a 700,000 sq ft bakery and is due to complete shortly to an unnamed individual, said property company Bilfinger GVA, which is managing the process.
The site also includes a partially let 19th century mill, and a fully let series of industrial buildings with a yard and car parking.
A spokesman for Bilfinger GVA commented: “The buyer will be collecting income from existing tenants and would ideally like to keep a working bakery on the business park.”
Meanwhile, Cooplands’ machinery and shop contents have been auctioned by Edward Symmons Group, in a process ending on 18 March.
A spokeswoman said that the auction realised more than was estimated, with 335 out of 370 lots sold to 62 winning bidders. The equipment auctioned included ovens, bread slicers, display cabinets and fridges.
Some 41 Cooplands (Doncaster) shops and 26 bap vans were bought by restructuring firm ReSolve in February, and are being supplied by Hughes Family Bakers, based in Shipley in West Yorkshire.
Paul Davies, director of Resolve, said a progress update would be given in due course.
The pre-pack administration of Cooplands of Doncaster was announced in February and resulted in 39 shop closures, as well as the bakery and head office.
