A new concept store named ‘Costa to Go’ is being trialled by the coffee shop in locations across London.

The express format is currently being tested in selected transport hubs across the capital, however the Whitbread-owned coffee shop said there were currently no plans to roll this out nationally.

There are currently two stores at present - one in Holborn and one at Moorgate.

Kerry Parkin, head of corporate communications, said: "Costa is constantly looking to meet customer needs for great Barista made coffee, and our new Costa to Go format offers exciting service and range developments that allow our teams to deliver customers on the go quality coffee and delicious food at speed."

The stores sell products such as Barista coffee, wraps, sandwiches and yoghurt.

In the company’s end of year results for 14/15, it stated: “We have an ambition to double the business by 2020, as we continue to expand into new growth channels in the UK, as well as focus on our international expansion. Our wholesale business also continues to make good progress.”

It also said that Whitbread chief executive Andy Harrison would take retirement from the company at the end of this financial year, in February 2016.
