Marks & Spencer (M&S) has issued a recall for its Vegetable Crispbakes with a use-by date of 7 November 2015 because it may contain egg, which is not mentioned on the label. This means the product is a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy to egg.

The product is suitable for home freezing so, although it is past its use-by date, some consumers may still have packs in their freezer.

A spokesperson for M&S said: “We take food safety extremely seriously and have issued an allergy alert for a single batch of Vegetable Crispbakes with a use-by date of 7 November.

“The product has a small amount of egg in it that isn’t labelled and anyone with an egg allergy who has the product in their freezer should return it to their nearest M&S store for a full refund.”

He was unwilling to go into any detail about how the contamination occurred or how many of the packs had been sold.

The product name is 2 Vegetable Crispbakes, the pack size is 227g, and the unique product code is 126298.
