Boulder Brands UK, which owns the Udi’s Gluten Free brand, is recalling packs of several products, due to possible contamination with sesame seeds.

The affected Udi products are 350g bags of Multi Seeded Bagels, 450g packs of Multi Seeded Bread, 300g packs of Multi Seeded Rolls, 400g packs of White Sandwich Bread and 400g packs of Brown Sandwich Bread, all with best before dates of 22 February 2016, or earlier.

Boulder Brands said the sunflower seed ingredients used in its products became contaminated with sesame seeds and customers should return the products to store for a refund.

Certain free-from, own-label products Boulder Brands makes for Tesco and Asda have also been recalled. Tesco has recalled all date codes of its 550g packs of Free From Sliced White Bread, 550g packs of Free From Sliced Brown Bread, 550g packs of Free From Seeded Brown Bread, 300g packs of Free From Full Seeded Brown Rolls and 400g instore bakery Free From Multi Seeded Bloomers. Meanwhile, Asda is recalling 550g packs of its Free From Sliced White Bread and Free From Sliced Brown Bread with best before dates of 22 February 2016 or earlier.

According to the Food Standards Agency (FSA) website, undeclared sesame seeds were again at fault.

The FSA said: "Some of the products listed are known to have been manufactured with a sesame seed ingredient and others may have been cross-contaminated with it."

Simon Hazlett, UK managing director of Boulder Brands, said: “If you suffer from a sesame allergy you should not consume your product and return it to the retailer for a full refund. This contamination does not affect the gluten-free or dairy-free status of the products.

“Please be assured we are taking this incident very seriously, together with our ongoing commitment to make quality assured gluten-free food.”

Udi’s Gluten Free recently launched a range of chocolate clusters.
