Asda recalls cake over walnut fears

23 February, 2016

Asda has withdrawn its Extra Special Chocolate and Beetroot Cake because some packs might contain walnuts.

The chocolate and beetroot cake may have been contaminated with Extra Special Carrot, Courgette and Orange Loaf Cake, which contains walnuts. There is no nut allergen warning on the beetroot cake.

Customers are advised to return the product to the store from where it was bought for a full refund. Further information is also available by contacting Asda Customer Relations on 0800 952 0101.

This comes as Asda recently announced that it had seen sales fall 5.8% during the three months that include Christmas - its biggest quarterly sales fall on record.
