EHL’s new seed blends for savoury biscuits

EHL Ingredients has launched a new range of seed blends to help bakers create exciting new recipes and formulations for savoury biscuits and crackers. 

The new seed blends, which contain varieties of sesame, chia, blue and white poppy, with flax golden linseed, pumpkin, caraway, millet and sunflower, are also available in bespoke seed mixes. 

The UK is now the biggest consumer of savoury snacks in Europe, with a market worth £2.3bn, and a report last year by Kantar Worldpanel showed sales of savoury products were up 6.9%.

Tasneem Backhouse, sales director at EHL, said: “We launched our new seed blends following growth in healthier snacking, as well as the increase in the development of premium savoury biscuits with innovative flavours and toppings.

“Our seed blends give bakers and savoury biscuit manufacturers more options to launch new, tasty and appealing varieties, as consumers are always looking for the next big food trend.”

EHL said the savoury biscuits market was “constantly evolving”, with oatcakes - including plain, flavoured and seeded - taking a prominent place at the moment. EHL can also provide bespoke ingredients and blends to manufacturers.

100% natural

Tasneem continued: “Our products are 100% natural and have been trialled and tested to ensure flavours are maintained during the production process, resulting in high-quality finished food products. We can also offer organic items on request.”

As well as seed blends, EHL stocks around 200 organic ingredients, alongside bespoke organic herb and spice blends, which can be sold as ready-made mixes.
