A duo of gluten-free pies has been launched by premium-pie restaurant Square Pie.
The Chicken, Leek & Bacon and Mushroom & Asparagus pies are made using a newly developed gluten-free pastry, and were launched in the company’s London restaurants on 11 March.
The company said it had created over 150 pie varieties since opening in 2001, but hailed the new pies as the most exciting yet.
Martin Dewey, founder of Square Pie, said: “We’re delighted to have finally cracked making pastry without gluten, as it’s something we’ve been focussing on for a while. We know more and more people are turning to a gluten free diet, and I think this pastry is the best you can get in the UK! We’re excited for people to try it.”
Square Pie operates six restaurants in London, Birmingham and at the Bluewater Shopping Centre in Kent. Last year, the company raised over £600,000 through the sale of ‘Pie Bonds’ to help fund expansion.
