The Greggs app is “improved and streamlined” compared to the last version, which launched in 2014. It offers incentives for customers, as well as making shopping across its 1,700 shops quicker and easier, without the need to carry a wallet or loyalty card.
The app rewards include:
- A free Greggs breakfast when you top up with £10 for the first time
- A free hot drinks promotion - buy 7 and get your next one free
- A birthday sweet treat
- Seasonal offers throughout the year exclusively for Greggs Rewards users
- Prize draw - every month, five lucky people will win £50.
The app also has a simplified registration process, meaning customers can now download and use it straight away without having to upload funds.
Users can pay directly for purchases through a smartphone with PayPal, Apple Pay, by preloading money on to their account or with cash or a debit/credit card.
Malcolm Copland, commercial director at Greggs, said: “We’ve listened carefully to what our customers want; an easy-to-use app that allows them to pay quickly and easily via a smartphone, along with exclusive offers to reward them for shopping with us.”
Last week, Greggs reported like-for-like (LFL) sales were up 3.7% for the first 18 weeks of the year, which it credited to hot sandwiches and breakfasts.
