Leeds firm eyes cake packaging sector

20 July, 2016

UK thermoformed packaging manufacturer Leeds Vacuum Formers (LVF) is launching a range of two-part cake domes, in a bid to significantly grow its share of the UK retail cake business.

The West Yorkshire-based company, which already delivers cake domes directly into Morrisons’ in-store bakeries says the domes, which cover six to 10 inches in diameter, are suitable for the majority of cakes available in supermarkets.

Nigel Coates, managing director of LVF, said: Our ultimate goal is to be the first name people in the bakery and confectionary sectors think of when they are seeking a packaging specialist to create innovative and bespoke packaging solutions. Creativity in these markets is extremely high and we need to match it in order to stand out from the competition.”

The firm also plans to expand the range to include packs suited to meringues, pavlovas and square cakes.

The new cake dome range follows a series of investments aimed at doubling the company’s turnover by 2020.
