UK supermarket, Morrisons has recalled its Busy Bee Cake after discovering that a batch of its stock may contain traces of salmonella.

The retailer withdrew all of the best before dates of 4 August  for the cake yesterday as a precautionary measure.

The cakes, priced at £10 each, come  in 16-segment pack sizes and are sponge filled with lemon curd and buttercream, wrapped in green icing and decorated with icing flowers and bees.

A spokesperson at Morrisons commented: “We do not wish to discuss this issue at this present time.”

The supermarket will inform customers about the recall through notices in its stores and has urged anyone who bought the product last month to return to the store to receive a full refund.

In July, Asda recalled packs of its Baker’s Selection 20 Mini Rocky Road Bites, with a best-before date of 4 August.
