GroceryAid Ball raises over £235k for the industry

More than 600 people from across the food industry gathered for the Diamond Ball to raise money for GroceryAid.

The event raised more than £235,000 and will enable GroceryAid to look after at least 156 beneficiaries in the coming 12 months with both financial and practical support, it said in a statement.

During the evening, GroceryAid recognised the contribution of volunteers who had given their time for at least 10 years to help the charity in its work.

The GroceryAid Hall of Fame (pictured) is the charity’s way of saying thank you to volunteers from all areas of the food industry, without whom the charity “would not be as healthy as it is today”.

Among those recognised was Lorraine Hendle, managing director, retail and manufacturing at British Baker’s publisher, William Reed Business Media.

Alongside Hendle were Nick Boddy, Paul Fieldhouse, James Greer, June Robinson, Amanda Short, Victoria Spooner, Simon van Moppes and Martin Wright.
