KPS disinfects to protect
Ultraviolet (UV) treatment equipment manufacturer Kaiku Process Solutions (KPS) has launched its new Bioguard system to help combat the dangers of cross-contamination.
The new product is targeted particularly at the sandwich market, where many different ingredients may be in close proximity to each other during the production process. Bioguard utilises UV lamps and mesh conveyor systems to treat food products and packaging against micro-organisms. It is designed to disinfect products as they move between high- and low-care environments and for surface sterilisation. It can also be used to disinfect packaging surfaces and is suitable for all food products.
"Using a carefully-designed conveyor and multi-directional UV lamp mounting, the machine gives 360-degree disinfection, so every part of the surface of the food or the packaging is disinfected," explained KPS technical director Malcolm Snowball.
