Biscuits and oatcakes from Northern Irish bakery Ditty’s are gaining an international following after the company secured new export contracts with companies in New Zealand and London, and began talks with potential customers in France and Hong Kong.

The Castledawson company has started shipping Ditty’s branded shortbread and oat biscuits to New Zealand-based Viva Corporate Gifts, after the hamper company discovered the range online.

“They contacted us by e-mail and we have since shipped the full range of Ditty’s sweet shortbread and savoury oatmeal biscuits to Viva for their Christmas hampers. It’s another exciting new market for Ditty’s and we look forward to seeing it grow and develop,” said MD Robert Ditty.

The bakery has also gained a new listing for its full range of biscuits with butcher Jack O’Shea’s, which has stores in Knightsbridge and Brussels, plus a concession in Selfridges, Oxford St.

Ditty’s is also currently in negotiation with a French independent retailer, as well as a with a distributor based in Hong Kong, who supplies into the wider Chinese market.

The company already supplies Waitrose, Fortnum & Mason and Paxton & Whitfield in the UK.
