Sainsbury’s carries just under 1,000 bakery lines in an average store, and has a total range of around 1,500, including regional lines. The figure 6,000 was given at our recent Baking Industry Summit, following a researcher error at Sainsbury’s, (British Baker, December 2, pg 5).

Sainsbury’s total bakery sales are £571m a year, and nearly half are in-store bakery.
