Staff at handmade Cornish pasty manufacturer Proper Cornish are to get tailor-made training in a bid to improve productivity.

The company has teamed up with business consultancy Lemon Frog for a year-long project which will identify key areas for development and address them through a staff training programme.

Practical on-the-job training will take place once a week at the Proper Cornish factory in Bodmin and will concentrate on generating effective management and leadership skills. It aims to provide each member of staff with specific training relevant to their job and to improve their accountability. Staff will also get the opportunity to work towards an NVQ in leadership/management, funded by the Learning & Skills Council.

Proper Cornish MD Phil Ugalde said investing in staff and helping their continual personal development was important to the company.

“The customised training programme developed by Lemon Frog is the ideal way of addressing the development of staff at all levels, while keeping the company’s overall objectives and goals in mind,” said Ugalde.
