Lancashire-based Farmhouse Fare will be attempting to make the world’s largest sticky toffee pudding this Saturday (17 March).

Aiming to beat the Guinness World Record, which currently stands at just over 200kg, the pudding manufacturer will be using 190 eggs, 91kg of sugar and 50kg of butter to create the oversized sweet baked treat, weighing in excess of 300kg.

The record attempt is being supported by supermarket chain Booths, which will serve the giant sticky toffee pudding in two of its Lancashire stores on 24 and 25 March. Consumers will be asked to make a small donation for a piece of cake to the Macmillan Cancer Support charity.

Nigel Parrott, group marketing director at Farmhouse Fare, said: “As well as appealing to new consumers, who are intrigued by this bold, exciting activity, our record attempt will remind brand loyalists that Farmhouse Fare is truly the master of puddings. The sampling in Booths will drive trial and attract new consumers to the brand, while raising money for a very worthwhile cause.”

The firm has gained support from a number of suppliers, which will donate ingredients, equipment and packaging to the cause. This includes D Wise, Nelstrops, Western Commodities, Kudos Blends, Whitworths Sugar and Meadow Foods.

Parrott added: “We’re excited to show consumers just how skilled our bakers are. This will be evident when we pull a pudding from the oven, which will weigh in excess of 300kg. With our exciting attempt at putting Farmhouse Fare on the map, retailers should prepare for giant demand for our puddings.”
