Here is the Aldi Christmas advert which trumpets the success of its Specially Selected Mince Pies at the British Baker Christmas Stars awards.

The discounter placed the Christmas Stars ‘Highly Recommended’ status logo next to the pies as they appear on screen. The adverts have been aired on primetime television slots.

The adverts are an adaption of Aldi’s main #AldiFavouriteThings campaign, a classic, sparkle-filled promotion featuring close-up shots of Christmas products set to a special version of My Favourite Things from the musical The Sound of Music.

Aldi’s campaign has been widely commended, with Seattle-based Waggener Edstrom Communications (WE) placing it top out of a list of 13 retailers based on social media impact and particularly praising its quick-thinking parody of the John Lewis ‘Man on the Moon’ advert.

Aldi won five of the six categories at the August event, including Best Christmas Cake and Best Christmas Biscuit Selection, and previously trumpeted its Christmas Stars success in print media such as The Times.

The Christmas Stars awards are run by British Baker, the leading industry title for the UK baking industry. The full list of winners can be seen on the Christmas Stars website.
