Marriage’s introduces new flours

27 September, 2012

Marriage’s is launching a new range of flours for craft bakers looking to create more speciality and longer fermentation breads.

The Chelmsford-based producer of organic flour told British Baker it will introduce the new line of products, which will be sold in 16kg bags, in the next couple of weeks. The new varieties include Light Rye, Dark Rye, White Spelt, Wholemeal Spelt, Chelmer White and Barley flour.

Hannah Marriage, marketing executive at Marriage’s, said: “We’re keen to support independent bakeries, so developed this range of flours for the craft sector, given the growing consumer demand for speciality and longer fermentation breads incorporating different grains like rye, spelt and barley. The range was developed in conjunction with several of our independent bakery customers.”

The new flours will be available for bakeries to order direct from Marriage’s, as well as online through the firm’s website.

Marriage’s has also launched a new competition this month on its dedicated Facebook page asking web-savvy bakers what they do while they wait for their bread to rise.

Bakers have been asked to film a video on their camera phone for the ‘Test of Time’ competition and upload it to the company’s Facebook page, for the chance to win a baking day at The School of Artisan Food. Marriage’s is also giving away daily prizes over the next two months as part of the competition, including aprons, tea towels and dough scrapers.
