Pret A Manger scoops French award

Pret A Manger recently picked up the Enseigne d’Or accolade – also known as The Golden Retail Brand – in Paris.

The British-based chain, has three shops in the French capital, which it said achieved higher average sales than its London stores, with a fourth opening next week.

The ceremony, which was attended by thousands of French retailers, has previously seen the likes of Apple, Ikea and H&M win the annual award.

Enseigne d’Or is presented to the best-performing retail chains across six categories, with Pret commended for the efficiency of its operations.

The chain said its the award was testament to the strength of its model of adapting, but not compromising, its values to suit the demanding French market.

Clive Schlee, chief executive, Pret, said: “We took on the challenge of the French market with zeal, and were initially worried about how we might be received in Paris. This award is the realisation of what our Parisian customers have already been telling us. They love the quality of our food and the speed of service – always delivered with a smile.”
 
He added: “They aren’t used to getting such fresh food so quickly and anything with avocado is selling like hot cakes.”
