GBBO stars head up new pop-up bakery

Fortnum & Mason has launched a new pop-up bakery, which will play host to stars of BBC2ís The Great British Bake Off (GBBO).

Opening its doors for the first time today, the temporary retail bakery outlet will run for 10 weeks and will feature Paul Hollywood, master baker and judge of the hit TV bakery show, in addition to the first GBBO winner Edd Kimber, who judged British Bakerís National Cupcake Championships last year.

Hosts of Fortnumís British Bakery will take a two-week slot each and stock the retail outlet with a range of their bakery goods, which people can purchase to take away or enjoy in a dedicated cafť, in addition to presenting a number of practical masterclasses.

Paul Hollywood told British Baker: ďFortnum & Mason is a name thatís synonymous with quality food. Iím very happy to be working with them and to promote baking in such a famous store.Ē

Edd Kimber added: ďI am thrilled to be working with Fortnum & Mason, a world-renowned company with such history. I will be baking recipes from both of my cookbooks as well as a couple of exclusive recipes made especially for the pop-up.

ďOne of the things Iím really proud to be doing is serving my nannaís gingerbread recipe†Ė she would have been so proud to see it on sale in Fortnums.Ē

Other hosts of Fortnum & Masonís pop-up bakery include Rose Prince, a food writer and owner of Battersea-based The Pocket Bakery, as well as Stacie Stewart, a finalist on BBC1ís MasterChef and a sweet bakery judge for ITVís forthcoming cookery show Food Glorious Food.

Mary Berry will also be making a guest appearance at Fortnumís Diamond Jubilee Tea Salon on 26 February to launch her latest book with Lucy Young, entitled Mary Berry at Home. In addition, TV chef Lorraine Pascale will be sharing her expertise in both savoury and sweet as part of a celebratory three-course dinner on 30 January.
