Bakery wholesaler CEO raises £5k for charity

12 July, 2013

The chief executive of Bako North Western has helped to raise £5,000 for the Royal British Legion by cycling from Manchester to St Ives in Cornwall.

Mark Tomlinson completed the challenge in May with friends and family - and it was undertaken in memory of Sgt Paul Fox, 28, of the Engineer Regiment, who, at the age of 34, was killed by an improvised explosive device in Helmand Province, Afghanistan in 2010.

The start point was the place of Paul’s birth and the finish point is where a memorial to Paul stands as a testament to his bravery and sacrifice.

Tomlinson told British Baker: “After 6 months hard training, the ride itself was a huge success, raising over £5,000 for the Royal British Legion, a fantastic charity who do so much to support our service personnel.

“And it hasn’t put any of us off cycling, all four riders will complete the Manchester to Blackpool cycle ride this weekend.”
