Pasty firm reveals festive range

09 December, 2013

The West Cornwall Pasty Company is celebrating Christmas with a range of festive baked goods.

Available until the end of December, consumers can enjoy three seasonal slices: turkey &  cranberry; Davidstow three-cheese & cranberry; and the Boxing Day special.

Turkey and cranberry contains slices of turkey, potato, swede, onion, sage stuffing, sweet berries and a béchamel sauce (RRP £3.90/£4.15).

The vegetarian three-cheese option holds cheddar, red Leicester, mozzarella and jalapeños (RRP £3.50/£3.80)

Completing the trio is the Boxing Day special, filled with turkey, bacon, sausage, potato and gravy (RRP £3.90/£4.15).

Other items include snack-sized puff pastry pork and cranberry bites (three for £1.80), and mincemeat bars (one for £1.35/two for £2.50).

In the New Year, the company will release a haggis pasty to celebrate the birth of Scotland’s Robert Burns. Available in stores nationwide from 6 January, West Cornwall has joined with haggis producer Macsween to create the Celtic-inspired hot pastry.

With an RRP of £4.15/£3.90, each pastry contains traditional “neeps and tatties” to accompany the haggis.

Celebrating its 60th anniversary next year, Macsween was awarded three gold stars in this year’s Great Taste Awards for its haggis, the only one to have ever won the award.

West Cornwall is also challenging consumers on Facebook and Twitter to write a short ‘Ode to the Pasty’, using the hashtag #burns in January to win pasties for a year.

The ‘free pasties for a year’ competition starts on 6 January, running until the 31 January, and entries must include the #burns.
