FWP forced to put up flour price again

18 January, 2011

Cotswold-based FWP Matthews has become the latest miller to increase the price of its flour, following the continued rise in wheat prices.

In a letter to its customers from Graham Matthews, joint MD, the firm said that since it had increased its flour prices in September 2010, it had unfortunately seen a continued increase in the worldwide price of wheat.

“We will no longer be able to absorb this increased cost to our business and will therefore be increasing the price of our Cotswold and Cotswold Organic flours by £50.00 per tonne (£1.25 per 25kg, 80p per 16kg, 38p per 5x1.5kg) with effect from 31 January 2011.”

The firm said it did not propose an increase in the price of its French and European flours “at this stage”.
