Wedding cake wishes

Despite the trend for cupcake wedding cakes, most couples still choose to have a traditional tiered wedding cake, according to UK website Hitched.co.uk. A poll of couples who got married last year showed 64% opted for a traditional tiered cake; 10% wanted cupcakes; 6% had a cake with no tiers; while 20% chose something unusual or had no cake at all.

Palm oil agreement

New Britain Palm Oil has teamed up with Wilmar International, Asia's leading agribusiness group, to supply Continental Europe with segregated certified sustainable palm oil, from mid-2012, through an integrated supply chain and joint marketing deal.

Anniversary pie

As part of Pork Farms' 80th birthday celebrations, the firm is to launch a commemorative PGI Melton Mowbray pork pie. Available as a large individual size or in a four-pack, the pies will be sold in burgundy packaging to complement the current vintage green packaging on other Pork Farms products following the recent rebrand.

Potts on the line

Potts' Pies, which operates three pie shops in the Morecambe and Lancaster area, went into liquidation last month. However, owner Russell Walsh plans to keep the shops open by setting up a new company called Potts' Bakery.
