Uniq interest

Greencore and Samworth Brothers are reported to be interested in acquiring sandwich and desserts business Uniq, after it was put up for sale by its pension fund.

Fox's on-pack push

Northern Foods has rolled out an Alton Towers on-pack promotion across a number of its key biscuit brands, including Fox's. Nearly 30 million biscuit packs will carry a 'two for one' offer. Encompassing its Rocky brand, Mini Party Rings, Crunch Creams and Favourites assortments, it is the first on-pack promotion by Fox's.

Cracker deal

West Cork-based Patisserie Régale has developed a new range of crackers for Sheridan Cheesemongers. Richard Graham-Leigh, who owns the business, which trades as Cookies with Character, with his wife Jane, said first-year demand was "likely to be in the tens of 1,000s of packets". The crackers will launch in two months' time.

A website listing all the UK's major food and drink awards has been developed by the Northwest Food Tourism Executive Group. North West Tastes ACE (Awards Credited Excellence) www.nwtastesace.co.uk/website is designed to promote food from the region, but can be used as an information resource by firms from across the country.
