Real Bread Campaign targets public sector kitchens

A Bristol cookery school is to host a workshop in support of the Real Bread Campaign’s mission to put ‘real bread’ on public sector menus.

To be held on Monday 17 October, the workshop, at The Cookery School at Bordeaux Quay, will cover basic bread-making skills and how to work bread-making into a kitchen’s schedule.

“We’re so pleased to be able to support cooks in schools, care homes, and other public sector kitchens by passing on the skills they need to start baking delicious, fresh ‘real bread’,” commented The Cookery School’s manager Claire Allen.

The School is offering places to 12 public sector cooks at the discounted rate of £25 (inc. VAT) per person, which includes cake and a cup of tea.

Anyone wanting to register for a place can download an application form from the public sector page at www.realbreadcampaign.org, to be returned to the Campaign before Friday 30 September.
 
In other news, the Real Bread Campaign has developed a Real Bread Loaf Mark (RBLM), which will be in use from October. Members of the Campaign will have the option of signing up for the RBLM scheme – an annual agreement that they will only use the Loaf Mark to promote what the Campaign calls ‘real bread’: loaves made without the use of processing aids or any artificial additives.
