Bob Burns, of Burns The Bread, in Glastonbury has appeared on Radio 2 as Chris Evans’ mystery guest.

Evans asked Burns, last year’s Baker of the Year at the 2012 Baking Industry Awards, about his favourite loaf and the best way to toast bread, and Burns challenged Evans on why he said he avoids eating bread.

Burns opted for a French grain loaf, when asked which he would choose before he died, and when asked how to make the perfect toast, Burns responded, “Don’t cut the bread too thinly.”

Asked about the shop name, Burns told Evans: “My ex-wife used to call me Burns The Bread.”

The interview can be heard by following this link http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b01scyl6 and Burns is featured 2 hours 14 minutes into the show.

Burns is this week hosting a bakery tour for journalists, both local and as far afield as Holland, as part of a regular series of open bakery events designed to educate and inform different groups about craft bakery.
