Surrey bakery manufacturer Monty’s Bakehouse has partnered with a leading food group to start selling products in the Middle East.

Agthia Group is a food and beverage company in the UAE, and the partnership will mean that Monty’s Bakehouse products will be manufactured by Agthia and introduced under the Monty’s brand into hotels, retails and foodservice providers in the Gulf region.

It also means that Agthia products will be served on a number of global airlines, which are provided for by Monty’s.

Matt Crane, chief executive of Monty’s Bakehouse, said: “We have worked closely with Agthia for the past two years and we have aligned the strategic objectives of both our businesses. Our partnership with Agthia Group will allow us at Monty’s Bakehouse to broaden both our product range and our geographical reach east towards Asia while providing additional support to our core clients within the GCC region.

“These are exciting times for our business and we now look forward to a long and prosperous partnership with the Agthia Group.”

Iqbal Hamzah, chief executive of Agthia Group, commented: “We had a very successful 2014, and I am excited to begin 2015 with such a significant announcement. Our partnership with Monty’s Bakehouse will not only add a popular name to our portfolio, but will leverage its relationships with airlines to facilitate the promotion of our brands to airline passengers around the world.

“Our strategy for 2015 focuses on diversifying our product portfolio and widening our distribution reach, and this agreement satisfies both objectives.”
