Rugby-based business Revel Bakery has opened its new production site last week – just four months after it was set on fire.

Business partners Maurice Hartnett and Lac Hincu were devastated when their bakery was destroyed in an arson attack back in June.

After a difficult few months, the business partners have got the bakery up and running once again by opening up the new site, which will allow them to start returning to normal.

Speaking to the Rugby Advertiser, Hincu said: “We feel very emotional. It has been a long journey and it is really nice to be back at work. Everyone has been so incredibly supportive and we’ve been selling out of our bread at our shop in Churchside Arcade in Rugby and at Malt Kiln Farm.

“Chris Lea, who owns Malt Kiln Farm, phoned Maurice originally and then Maurice phoned me. We got there just as the bakery started to burn. We stood on top of the hill and watched it happen. It’s heart-wrenching, watching all of your hard work burn down in front of you. Everything was destroyed. But we decided to rebuild and focus on the positives. Four months later, we’ve got a new place and have bought new ovens. It has been a long process but we’re doing well.”

The business, which initially started out as a hobby before growing into a successful bakery, was set up six years ago.
