A Scottish couple organised a Greggs-themed wedding after falling in love over their favourite pastries at the bakery nine years ago.

Paul and Amanda McGinty, who tied the knot in Irvine, Ayrshire over the weekend, said the theme seemed obvious after Paul had visited the sandwich chain on his lunch break when the pair met for the first time.

Amanda told the Mirror: “It gives people a chuckle when we tell them where we met, and we wanted to put a smile on everyone’s faces when we tied the knot too.

“We chose a light blue colour scheme in honour of the chain’s logo and our wedding cake was Greggs-themed.”

The McGintys’ three-tiered cake featured figurines of the couple alongside Greggs’ snacks, including eclairs and pasties.

The couple’s 100 guests even sat on reception tables named after the sandwich chain’s products, including yum yums and steak bakes.

A spokesman for Greggs told the Sunday People: “It is great to hear about the part we played in Amanda and Paul getting together.

“We hope they enjoyed their big day and we send our congratulations by raising a steak bake with them to celebrate!”
