Cake maker Fiona Cairns has created a collection of luxury bath and body products for Waitrose.
The range, named Rose Gourmand, takes inspiration from Cairns’ baking and features floral designs and ingredients such as rose, pink pepper and hints of spice.
Cairns has been baking for over 30 years and has a bakery in Leicestershire producing cakes and biscuits by hand. In 2011, Cairns created the royal wedding cake for the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.
Her partnership with Waitrose begun in 1993, when she started supplying six celebration cakes. Now, over 25 years later Cairns has created a collection of pamper products including a bubble bath, bath oil, shower gel, body butter, sugar scrub, soap bar and hand cream.
Cairns said she decided to create a bath and body collection having worked with an array of floral and spice extracts in her years of cake-making, and discovering the benefits of using natural ingredients to revitalise and nourish skin.
“There’s nothing better than a long soak in the bath for de-stressing, and the floral scents and soothing ingredients in my collection make them an ideal addition to any relaxation routine,” added Cairns.
“I selected natural and sophisticated fragrances to create a warming, floral aroma and a feel of absolute luxury. We have worked with Waitrose & Partners for over 25 years and I’m thrilled to be launching this new venture with them.”
There is an ongoing trend for beauty and pampering products inspired by foods, with baked goods and confectionery taking leading roles. Beauty brand Baylis & Harding launched a range of sweet pamper products with fragrances including Frosted Sprinkles, Blueberry Glaze Donut and Vanilla Sugar Donut, while Cussons has produced a collection of Sweet Treats Shower Creams under its Imperial Leather brand, with scents including Marshmallow and Cherry Bakewell.
The Fiona Cairns collection is available at Waitrose stores and online, priced between £5 and £12.
