Indulgence signs Virgin cupcake deal

Indulgence Cupcake Company has said it looks set to boost turnover by 250% after landing a second deal with Virgin Atlantic.

As of 1 June, the new contract will see its cupcakes served as part of the airline’s economy and premium economy afternoon tea service on 15 flights departing from London Heathrow, London Gatwick, Manchester and Glasgow.

The Brighton-based is already supplying cupcakes for its pre-order shopping service, in a deal announced in March this year.

Following the contract gains, the firm is also moving to a larger premises to cope with demand, and has taken on a number of additional staff.

The cupcake firm had only employed one full-time member of staff, but has just recruited two additional full-time employees, and will be looking to employ two additional part-time staff.

Jeremy Jacobs, managing director, Indulgence Cupcake Company, said: “Being a small family run business it’s a big win for us and is made even better by having the honour of supplying one of the UK’s most respected brands and a well-loved airline.”

The firm also produces cupcakes for brands such as Johnson & Johnson, Sky, American Express, Europcar and sister company Virgin Holidays. It said the new Virgin contract fits with their business plan to expand and offer their cupcakes through retail outlets, as well as widening the product range beyond cupcakes.
