Warburtons managing director Robert Higginson has left the business, after agreeing it was “time for a change”.

Higginson had been with the business for 11 years, and has left to pursue other interests.

The firm said that its vision is to become the world’s best family food business, “and to achieve that we need to renew our drive for growth and assess our capabilities as a business”.

Warburtons confirmed that Jonathan Warburton will step in to lead the business, while it begins the recruitment process. He will assume the role of both chairman and chief executive, with full support from Ross and Brett Warburton.
