Tromp has been acquired by North American bakery equipment manufacturer AMF Bakery Systems.

The Netherlands-based manufacturer of bakery sheeting lines, which has UK headquarters in Shrewsbury, agreed the deal last week with AMF a subsidiary of business insurance firm Markel Ventures. The firm said it would complement AMF’s pan bread and bun manufacturing equipment offering.

Paul Rooijmans, international sales manager at Tromp, told British Baker: "AMF was looking for a good European partner, which specialised in sheeting equipment lines. Only 20% of both businesses’ work overlaps, and the majority of Tromp and AMF’s customers have completely different needs."

Tromp will keep its UK office and remain separate from the work at AMF’s base in Guiseley, Leeds. Rooijmans was unable to confirm whether the two UK businesses would be combined in the future.
