Specialist sugar producer Ragus Sugars has announced the opening of its new multi-million pound factory in Slough.
Based on the Slough Trading Estate, the factory is one of the most advanced of its kind, according to Ragus.
Ragus said it will it to build on its position as a supplier of bespoke sugars and syrups to food, baking, pharmaceutical and brewing industries.
Ben Eastick, director, Ragus Sugars, said: "We travel across the world to source sustainably grown crops that we turn into specialist sugars used in products from medicines to cakes, cereals and much more."
Eastick said the firm has managed expand through the recession due to its market insight, strong customer service and ability to make any specialist sugar product.
The factory is equipped with the latest machinery for highly efficient drying, sieving, screening, blending and bagging of sugar, said Ragus. It houses custom-made stainless steel syrup inversion pans and syrup storage tanks, and will also allow the firm to significantly cut its power and water usage.
