Last year’s runner-up in The Great British Bake Off (GBBO), James Morton, has released his first book.

Titled Brilliant Bread, the book focuses on Morton’s passion for bread-making and science.

The student has followed previous contestants Edd Kimber, Joanne Wheatley and John Whaite in writing his own recipe book.

He impressed Mary Berry and Paul Hollywood on the third series of GBBO with his interesting bakes and unusual knitwear.

The book uses step-by-step photos to guide the reader through the how-to of dough-making and -shaping, with recipes including crusty white rolls, yum yums and the perfect tea loaf.

Speaking about the book, Morton said: “I’m in love with bread: how it smells and feels and tastes. It is the simplest staple, yet so few of us bake our own. I want to change that.”

Brilliant Bread is available to buy from Ebury Press and Amazon, RRP £20.
