AB Mauri has entered into an agreement to acquire Gb Plange, for an undisclosed sum, British Baker can exclusively reveal.

The Runcorn-based business, in Cheshire, was part of the Werhahn Mühlen Group, which operates throughout Europe, as well as in selected overseas markets, including China and is a wholly owned subsidary of Wilh. Werhahn KG.

British Baker revealed last year how the company was seeking a buyer for Gb Plange.

Gb Plange employs 18 people, and supplies both the craft and industrial sector with a wide range of bakery ingredients and technical assistance. It operates in key European markets including the UK, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Belgium, the Netherlands and France. It offers customers – whether from the craft or industrial sector – a comprehensive programme of  bakery ingredients as well as technical application support. It has extensive experience and expertise in fermentation, enzyme and flour technology.

The management of AB Mauri said it would comment further when the deal had been granted regulatory approval.

Last year, Marie Parnell, general manager UK, told British Baker: “This business includes the Gb Plange companies operating in western and southern Europe, as well as the Diamant businesses in Austria and eastern Europe. The result of this process is likely to be a divestment of the entire Bakery Ingredients Group.”
