Family-owned business The Cavan Bakery has opened its sixth retail outlet in Teddington, Middlesex.

Founded in 1929, Suze Drew, commercial manager, told British Baker the new site marked the start of a “business expansion” for the craft bakery, with plans to open a further four retail outlets by the end of the year.

She added that the new site had a “more contemporary look for the business”, with a muted colour scheme, compared to the company’s traditional brown and orange. Instead, it incorporates tones of grey and black for a more rustic feel.

With the main bakery in Surrey, the other retail outlets are nearby, with one in Hampton Village, Richmond, London, two in Hampton Hill, and three in Teddington, Middlesex.

The craft bakery sells a range of sandwiches, savoury items, cakes and traditional farmhouse loaves, bloomers and baguettes to take away. Speciality breads include sourdough, focaccia, brioches, pain au levain and spelt & honey loaves.

Bath buns, croissants, pains au chocolat, Belgian buns and doughnuts are also available.

The business also supplies wholesale to a range of farm shops, restaurants, cafés, gastro pubs and independent sandwich bars within London and Surrey.
