Desserts manufacturer Indulgence Patisserie has completed the construction of a second manufacturing facility in Colchester.

It cost £2.5m and took 12 months to build, and Angus Allan, managing director, said the expansion should double turnover in three to five years to £16m, and create 30 new jobs.

Allan added that the business will eventually look into refurbishing its first Colchester factory, opposite the expansion, which opened in 1997.

The investment has provided the business with more space, better segregation of areas and drainage, and improved wash facilities. A positive filtered refrigerated air system has been introduced, as well as double-door pass through rack ovens.

Additionally, the business has purchased a new liquid nitrogen tunnel, planetary mixers and chocolate melting tanks.

Indulgence Patisserie Limited produces a range of own-label and branded dessert products. It supplies Waitrose, Ocado and Booths in the UK, and exports to 12 countries, including Australia, Qatar and Denmark.
