Bakels improves digital presence

Supplier Bakels has embraced the digital revolution with a host of interactive products for the tech-savvy baker.

The company has just launched its glossy 2014 paper catalogue, with QR codes which can be clicked or scanned to take customers to detailed product specification sheets and recipe ideas.

It also has links to online training videos on YouTube, showing bakers how to make the most of the products.

Bakers can also scan the QR codes of Bakels’ wholesalers in their region in order to source the products. And they can sign up for Bakels Bites, the monthly e-newsletter, follow British Bakels on Twitter or “like” it on Facebook. British Bakels now has 1,164 likes.

British Bakels managing director Paul Morrow told British Baker: “This has been a big project, pulling together all the tools that are available to the sophisticated IT user. We did have information available on our website previously, but this is searchable and much more user-friendly. Bakers are becoming more technology-savvy, this will be the norm in five years.”

The digital move follows the recent launch of its new state-of-the-art demonstration bakery at uts headquarters in Bicester, Oxfordshire.

*Bakels has also just launched a new Mediterranean Bread Concentrate with ingredients such as basil and garlic flavours, dried mixed peppers, toasted onions, paprika, tomato powder and oregano, available in 8kg bags.
