Interbake designs own depositor

Interbake, the bakery equipment supplier, has designed its own depositor and claims it is set to boost the company’s profits by 50%.

The company, based in Bury, Greater Manchester, launched the Triple D Depositor after a contract with its Canadian manufacturer was terminated earlier this year.

The company was assisted by the Manufacturing Advisory Service (MAS), part of the Greater Manchester Business Growth Hub, who provided funding to enable Interbake to source bespoke tooling to manufacture key components of its new depositor. The MAS also advised on patenting and CE marking requirements.

The machine was launched at Foodex, in March and can be used to fill cakes and savouries with creams, jams, fruit fillings and liquids.

According to Interbake, the new depositor is set to boost profits by 50% and safeguard jobs as the company plans to develop new food manufacturing and processing products and expand its workforce.

Additionally, Interbake has purchased the adjoining unit where it is based, increasing floor space by 9,00sq ft.

David Dunne, managing director, Interbake, said: “We knew we had the expertise and know-how to build a machine and realised that our own machine had great potential if we could get it to market.”

Interbake currently supplies and services a range of food processing equipment supplied mainly to bakers and butchers. Products include refrigeration, mincers, cream machines, bread and cake slicers, ovens, mixers, pastry rollers and a range of tinware.
