Dorset company Olives Et Al has launched its new deli in Cheddar Garden Centre, to offer customers a “quality” dining experience.

The deli, named Loaf & Larder, stocks and prepares products using ingredients from local suppliers, which can all be found on the deli shelves.

The kitchen area is all open-plan, and customers can watch chefs create pies, quiches and breads fresh on the site.

Giles Henschel, founder of Olives Et Al, told British Baker: “We are creating restaurant-quality food for people to take away and eat in their homes.

“I hope the people of Cheddar really enjoy what we have created, we have carefully selected the product range to capture the imagination of people’s senses.”

Along with the launch, the deli will begin to run classes in bread-making and master classes on how to make some of the recipes the company offers on-site.

Rupert Morris, head of retail for Olives Et Al, said: “We’ll be offering a series of events, tastings and sessions to show what Loaf & Larder is all about - after all, the Olives Et Al maxim is to ‘live more and eat very happily’ and we’d love to help people do just that.”

Plans for the garden centre-based deli have been in action since January this year.

The deli will use local suppliers, such as Hobbs House Bakery, the Tea House Emporium, Luscombe drinks, Chew Moo’s Ice Cream, Pipers Farm and Griffiths Butchers Chilled Meats, Perry Cider, Cheddar Ales, Olives Et Al’s olives, dressings, nuts, sauce and snacks, as well as a cheese counter with local, regional and international cheeses.

Olives Et Al was founded 20 years ago and sticks to using natural ingredients.
