Otis Spunkmeyer moves across the pond to European foodservice

Legendary American bakery brand Otis Spunkmeyer has been launched into the foodservice sector in Europe with its range of cookies, donuts and muffins.

Swiss bakery group Aryzta owns the brand, which has introduced a range including giant cookies, filled doughnut balls, ring doughnuts and muffins. The muffins and doughnuts are also supplied individually wrapped.

Mariam French, head of marketing, UK, said: “For almost 40 years, the Otis Spunkmeyer brand has stood for fun, flavour and an authentic taste of America. We’re thrilled, therefore, to bring the full range to our shores, giving caterers the opportunity to profit from a heritage brand with serious appeal. And, with the UK in the midst of its love affair with US food, what better time than now to get stocking.

“The sweet confectionery brand has landed and we’re pulling out all the stops to help caterers cash in. I urge sites looking to profit from years of Stateside baking expertise and inject some fun into their sites, so get in touch today.”

Meanwhile, Aryzta has lifted European revenue, boosted by a reorganisation of its bakery and food solutions arm. Its European revenue increased 14% to €1.5bn (£1.2m), and the company invested €100m in expanding its bakeries, for the year ending 31 July 2014.
