J&J Snack Foods Corp has formed a partnership with multinational confectionery, food and beverage company Mondelēz International to launch Oreo Churros into the foodservice channel.

The new churros will have oreo choccie pieces throughout and will be served warm, like a traditional churro.

They will be available as regular churro sticks, double-twisted churros and bite-size churros, but a release date has not yet been stated.

The food manufacturer will also supply an Oreo cookie crème dip to accompany the snack, or it can be served with ice cream.

Jerry Law, J&J Snack Foods senior vice-president said: “As the leading churro manufacturer, we are excited about our new relationship with the world-famous Oreo cookie brand. Oreo cookie and churro fans alike will not be disappointed by the latest snacking mash-up.”

Oreo has so far generated £1.26bn ($2bn) in global annual net revenues, and celebrated its 100th birthday in 2012.
